Master Sgt. Jefferson Donald Davis, 39, of Watauga, Tennessee,
Killed 5 Dec. 2001. Detachment A574, 3rd Army Battalion, 5th Special
Forces Group -a 17-year-veteran of Desert Storm and numerous Southeast
Asian operations - one of the first Americans to killed in combat
in the War on Terror in Afghanistan when a bomb from coalition forces
accidentally targeted him and two other Special Forces officers.
Spc. Thomas A. Foley III, 23 Dresden, Tennessee, 2nd Battalion,
44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Killed
when a grenade exploded inside his Humvee in Iraq on April 14, 2003
Sgt. Kenneth W. Harris Jr., 23, of Charlotte, Tennessee,
212th Transportation Company, Army Reserves, Died of injuries in
a two-vehicle accident that happened when a supply convoy came under
small-arms fire southeast of Diwaniya, Iraq, on August 20, 2003
Staff Sgt. David L. Loyd, 44, of Jackson, Tennessee, 1175th
Transportation Company, Tennessee Army National Guard, Died of a
heart attack while on a mission. Was pronounced dead at a Kuwaiti
hospital on August 5, 2003.
Army Sgt. 1st Class William M. Bennett, 35, of Seymour,
Tennessee, Killed 12 September 2003 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, when his
unit executed a raid on enemy forces. Assigned to 3rd Battalion,
5th Special Forces Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.
2nd Lt. Richard Torres, 25, of Clarksville, Tennessee,
Company B, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 10th Mountain
Division, Killed in combat operations when his convoy was struck
by a roadside bomb in Baghdad, Iraq, on October 6, 2003
Lt. Col. Kim S. Orlando, 43, of Nashville, Tennessee, Headquarters,
716th Military Police Battalion, 16th Military Police Brigade, was
attempting to negotiate with a group of armed men who had gathered
near a Karbala, Iraq, mosque after curfew on October 16, 2003. The
Iraqis opened fire, killing Orlando, who was serving as the battalion's
commanding officer.
Staff Sgt. Morgan D. Kennon, 23 of Memphis, Tennessee,
Company C, 3rd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne
Division (Air Assault), Killed at his post guarding a bank in Mosul,
Iraq, when it came under rocket-propelled grenade attack on November
7, 2003
Staff Sgt. Nathan J. Bailey, 46, of Nashville, Tennessee,
1175th Transportation Company, Tennessee Army National Guard, Died
in Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, from a non-hostile gunshot wound on November
12, 2003
Army Chief Warrant Officer Alexander S. Coulter, 35, of
Bristol, Tennessee, Assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company,
124th Signal Battalion, 4th Infantry Division (Mech), Fort Hood,
Texas. Killed 17 November 2003 in Baqubah, Iraq, while he was in
a convoy traveling to Tikrit and his vehicle ran over an improvised
explosive device.
Sgt. 1st Class Gregory B. Hicks, 35, of Duff, Tennessee,
B Troop, 1st Battalion, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division,
Killed when the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter he was onboard was shot
down during a medical evacuation mission in Falluja, Iraq, on January
8, 2004
Capt. Brent L. Morel, 27, of Martin, Tennessee, Company B, 1st Reconnaissance
Battalion, 1st Marine Division, 1st Marine Expeditionary Force,
Killed by hostile fire during combat operations in Al Anbar Province,
Iraq, on April 7, 2004
Staff Sgt. Don S. McMahan, 31, of Nashville, Tennessee,
Killed when his convoy was attacked by rocket-propelled grenades
and small-arms fire in Baghdad, Iraq, on April 9, 2004
Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Christopher E. Watts, 28, of Knoxville,
died April 24, 2004 in the Northern Persian Gulf as a result of
a waterborne attack. He was assigned to the USS Firebolt, forward
deployed to Manama, Bahrain
Spc. Ervin Caradine Jr., 33, of Memphis, Tennessee, 91st
Engineer Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Killed when the convoy
vehicle he was in was hit by a roadside bomb in Baghdad, Iraq, on
May 2, 2004
Staff Sgt. Todd E. Nunes, 29, of Chapel Hills, Tennessee,
1st Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, Killed
when his convoy was attacked after a roadside bomb exploded in Kirkuk,
Iraq, on May 2, 2004
Marine Lance Cpl. Jeremiah E. Savage, 21, of Livingston,
Tennessee, died May 12, 2004 of wounds received due to hostile action
in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 4th
Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force,
at Camp Pendleton, Calif.
Lance Cpl. Timothy R. Creager, 21, of Millington, Tennessee,
2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division,
2nd Marine Expeditionary Force, Died in combat operations in Al
Anbar Province, Iraq, on July 1, 2004
PFC David L. Potter, 22, of Johnson City, Tennessee, 115th Forward
Support Bn., 1st Cavalry Div. Died of non-combat related injuries
in Baghdad, Iraq on August 7, 2004.
Spc. Marco D. Ross, 20, of Memphis, Tennessee, Company
A, 115th Forward Support Battalion, 1st Cavalry Division, Killed
in a mortar attack on his camp in Baghdad, Iraq, on August 25, 2004
Spc. Brandon M. Read, 21, of Greeneville, Tennessee, 125th Transportation
Company. Killed when his convoy came under attack by hostile forces
using an improvised explosive device in Qayyarah West, Iraq, on
September 6, 2004

Mosul, Iraq, when his humvee was attacked by enemy forces.

Company, Killed by a suicide bomber who detonated an explosive inside
the mess hall at Camp Marez in Mosul, Iraq, on December 21, 2004

Guard killed August 14, 2005, in Tuz, Iraq, He died of wounds received
when his Humvee was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and
small-arms fire during a mounted patrol.
Sgt. Shannon D. Taylor, 30, of Smithville, Tennessee, 3rd Squadron,
278th Armored Cavalry Regiment, Tennessee Army National Guard, killed
August 14, 2005, in Tuz, Iraq, He died of wounds received when his
Humvee was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades and small-arms
fire during a mounted patrol.

Spc. Brian J. Schoff, 22, of Manchester, Tenn.,2nd Battalion,
506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne
Division, died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Jan. 28, 2006 when an improvised
explosive device detonated near his HMMWV.

Force, killed when a suicide car bomber attacked their vehicle near
